History

He is the older half-brother Valerie LaMarche, the Expression practitioner of New Orleans who tricked Damon Salvatore into committing an Expression sacrifice. Unlike his half-sister, who died of old age, he was far more immerse into the dark forces of Expression and found a way to extend his natural life span much further than with ordinary magic. That way turn him down the dark path of demonology and voodoo.

While true demons don't exist on Earth ever since they were banished into hell dimensions by the first witches, they can be brought forth to Earth by Expression practitioners. Durza perfected a ritual that allowed him to reach out through The Great Wall to get possessed and unite himself with a powerful ancient Demon.

However, Durza did more than just allow himself to be possessed, his ritual was powerful enough to enslave the Demon within him. That granted him immortality as he won't age as long as the demon is inside him but if it were to be exorcised at his current advanced age, he would lose the only thing keeping him alive and die soon after.

He is very powerful but because of his demon based magic, blasts of concentrated light magic and angelic powers are extremely harmful to both the demon and his master.

Personality

He is quite sadistic and doesn't care who he hurts as long as he gets what he wants. His immerse exposure to Expression magic left him almost entirely void of compassion and while his is usually in full control of his inner demon, he has lost control several times over the decades and when he does the Demon uses his host to go on a rampage of carnage and destruction that would scare Mikael Mikaelson himself.

-In 1985, he lost control again and slaughter an isolated Inuit tribe in Alaska while he was looking for Expression hot-spots made from sacrificial victims from pre-colonial America. The elder shaman of the Tribe used the last of his magical strength to project the massive threat the Possessed Witch posed to the supernatural comunity, although normal vampires and werewolves couldn't sense it as they lack the magical powers and weak witches or those too far off couldn't sense the call. It was, however, felt by Lula Lorette and most of her potentialy powerful witch apprentices. Deeply concern by the threat, she gathered Sage and travelled to the devastated village. There they meet the only vampire that was both close enough and attuned enough to feel the call: The Angel turn vampire, Mercedes. After some explanations on both sides, Mercedes decided to team up with them to hunt down the Demonic witch since Demons from the Expression realm are natural enemies of the Angels and she felt closer to her duties by smiting him down.
-They caught up with Durza before he left the Canadian cold wilderness. After that, a huge magical battle followed as the destructive powers of the warlock clashed with those of the experienced Werewolf-witch Hybrid. Sage snapped his neck when he was distracted but to her surprise, that barely slowed him down. In fact, it allowed the Demon to take over and use his raw, dark energy to overpower Lula. Before he could kill her, Mercedes used one of the exorcisms he learned in his time as an Angel and released the demon from the now dead corpse. However, angel-turned vampire didn't have enough angelic power left to finish sending the demon over to his dark dimension so with the help Lulu, he did the only thing he could: shove him again in the dead corpse while Lulu turned every joint of his body into stone. They then dump his body in cave on the barren mountains and warded the entrance with Enochian symbols from Mercedes old memories that were charged by Lula's witch powers.
-And so, the demon has waited within Durza, his wrath never ending, dreaming of revenge every night as he awaits a chance to escape and get his vengeance.
